Project Details

In this role, you will report directly to the Managing Director and oversee commercial activities across multiple projects.

With project values ranging from £50k to £2 million, you’ll play a critical role in maximising cash flow, margins, and market share through robust surveying practices.

This is an office-based role in Market Harborough with regular travel to sites in London and nationwide as required.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with Directors, Contracts Managers, and operations teams to manage all contractual activities.
  • Engage with Estimators at project handover to thoroughly understand project specifications, scope, and contract sums.
  • Prepare, submit, and agree on interim valuations/applications to enhance the company’s commercial outcomes.
  • Cost and agree on variations, ensuring robust follow-up to guarantee timely payment.
  • Assess and value variations, losses, and expenses, and provide guidance on delays and extensions of time.
  • Ensure the issuance of relevant notices for delays, extensions, and loss/expense claims.
  • Report on the overall financial status of contracts to senior management.
  • Assist in tendering processes for new projects.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within a subcontractor environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to draft effective letters and notices to ensure clients fulfill their contractual obligations.
  • A team player with the ability to interact effectively with various levels of the project team.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize workload and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • HNC, HND or Degree educated in Quantity Surveying or a related subject
