A thriving construction disputes consultancy is hiring a Managing Claims Consultant for their office in Singapore.

They are seeking preferably a Chartered Quantity Surveyor or a Chartered Engineer, who will hold a managerial position, with previous successful experience in contracts administration and claims and disputes.

The chosen individual for the position of Managing Quantum Claims Consultant must have significant experience, preferably with a contractor's background, on a sizable number of claims during disputes in construction projects.

Ideally, you will have prior management or senior-level work experience with formal conflicts involving adjudication, arbitration, and litigation's quantum analysis. The chosen applicant will work in a managerial capacity, providing clients high level advice on contracts, business transactions, and dispute resolution.

Project Details

The selected candidate for the Managing Quantum Claims Consultant position will have exposure to a variety of interesting and complex projects. The hiring company has an established client base across Asia.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Offering highly analytical expert opinions supported by evidence on quantum-related issues within disputes.
  • Writing / Drafting claims reports
  • Stakeholder engagement and business development
  • Taking extensive data and correspondence pertaining to the dispute, using your knowledge as a Senior Engineer, Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager to provide relevant information from various sources, and presenting it for Claims review
  • Contract Administration by controlling, managing, and reporting contractual obligations from procurement to final account
  • Serving as a mentor and role model to other employees

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Been successful in a quantity surveying or civil engineering career, ideally for recognised employers and on challenging projects.
  • It is necessary to have exposure to and familiarity with the procedures used in cases headed for adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.
  • Whilst experience on adjudication disputes could be beneficial in this role, candidates will need to firmly understand and convey how they could adapt from reviewing data and writing reports in a persuasive manner to acting in an independent and impartial manner
  • It would be beneficial to have exposure to a variety of contracts like NEC and JCT and project areas.
  • Candidate should have a meticulous and analytical attitude towards their tasks
  • A personable and professional manner
  • Sincere desire to advance in the claims and disputes space. 

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • MRICS/ MICE Chartered Surveyor or Chartered Engineer desired
  • Must be Degree qualified in a relevant subject 
  • A construction law degree or related comparable postgraduate qualification is highly desirable such as MSc / LLB in Construction Law
