Claims Consultant
A fantastic opportunity for a Claims Consultant to join one of the UK’s largest multidisciplinary engineering business to work on claims and disputes in-house at their head office in Hull.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to specialise their career or an existing claims consultant to gain valuable experience in claims and disputes management within a leading construction organisation.
The successful candidate will support senior team members in analysing and preparing claims, resolving disputes, and providing contractual advice across a range of exciting projects.
Project Details
The In-House Senior Claims Consultant will play a critical role in managing and mitigating contractual and commercial risks across the company’s projects.
The successful candidate will provide expertise in claims preparation, defence, and resolution while supporting project teams in minimizing disputes.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with internal stakeholders, reporting directly to the Group Commercial Director gaining in-depth knowledge of the company’s projects and operations.
You will gain the opportunity to work across a variety of project types including rail, bridges, energy, and industrial facilities.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a Claims Consultant you will report directly to the Group Commercial Director.
- Analyse and prepare claims for time extensions, variations, and additional costs.
- Guide on contractual obligations, risks, and entitlements.
- Assessing claims under ongoing contracts, preparing defenses, and negotiating settlements.
- Interact with internal stakeholders, such as project teams, commercial managers, and legal departments.
Desired Skills and Experience
- A background in Quantity Surveying, ideally from a main contracting or sub-contractor background.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of typical Quantity Surveying duties
- Ideally some exposure to claim settlements
- Good experience/knowledge of standard forms of contract such as NEC and JCT.
- Competent with Microsoft Office packages.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ideally A Masters in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution
- Professional memberships such as MRICS, MCIArb, or equivalent are desirable. Although full support can be offered to achieve this.
