Are you looking to change construction industry sectors? We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Consultant with specialized knowledge in the construction industry, particularly in handling claims related to projects governed by NEC 4 contracts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in contract management, dispute resolution, and comprehensive understanding of NEC 4 contracts.

Project Details

Handle claims for main contractor clients in Hong Kong. They can provide excellent training and offer a competitive salary package.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Analyze, review, and assess construction claims, variations, and disputes arising from NEC 4 projects.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on contract interpretation, obligations, and entitlements under NEC 4 contracts.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders, including contractors, clients, and legal teams to resolve claims effectively.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports, documentation, and supporting evidence for claims submissions and dispute resolution processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers and legal counsel to develop strategies for managing and mitigating claims risks on NEC 4 projects.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, case law, and best practices related to NEC 4 contracts and claims management.
  • Identify time and cost events affecting the construction process
    - Research and draft claim documents
    - Draft correspondence related to delays and additional costs
    - Liaise with the project team to ensure that the necessary records are kept.
    - Work independently and as part of a team when required
    - Ensure a professional attitude when dealing with clients
  • Act as advisory body regarding matters relevant to construction claims which will include dispute avoidance and construction contracts administration.
  • Assist civil engineering contracting client on dispute resolution matters for their large scale civil and building projects
  • Provide support to contractor in client negotiations

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in the construction industry with a focus on claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Proven track record of successfully handling claims on projects governed by NEC 4 contracts.
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC 4 contract provisions, procedures, and implementation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with major contractors; build or civils contractor, as a Quantity Surveyor or Engineer
  • Some previous experience in preparing claims or undertaking compensating events, extension of time, variations, pricing of extra work, negotiation
  • Strong communication skills verbal and written in English.
  • Ability to work independently

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Candidates should ideally be on the verge of obtaining chartership in their respective field
