This is an excellent opportunity for a construction Project Scheduler or Project Planner to work client-side on some of British Columbia’s largest and most complex infrastructure schemes. Project Details

The Project Scheduler / Project Planner position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia and focuses on supporting the planning and scheduling of major civil engineering and transportation infrastructure projects across the province.

Projects include heavy civil, transit, rail, bridge, highway, marine and port infrastructure, with individual project values ranging up to approximately CAD$4 billion. The successful candidate will be involved from early planning and design stages through procurement and construction delivery, working closely with client teams and project stakeholders.

This is a client-side role offering exposure to multiple concurrent projects and fantastic career progression within a scheduling and planning role within British Columbia’s infrastructure sector.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a Project Scheduler / Project Planner, you will play a key role in programme development, monitoring and reporting across complex infrastructure projects. Responsibilities will include:

• Developing, maintaining and updating detailed and executive-level project schedules using Primavera P6
• Supporting planning and scheduling activities across heavy civil, transportation, transit and infrastructure projects
• Producing regular schedule updates, progress reports and look-ahead programmes for different client audiences
• Reviewing contractor schedules and providing professional advice and recommendations to protect the client’s interests
• Integrating schedules from contractors, consultants and stakeholders into cohesive master programmes
• Identifying critical path activities, key interfaces and potential schedule risks
• Undertaking what-if scenarios, delay analysis and supporting mitigation, recovery or acceleration strategies
• Applying recognised best practice planning and scheduling methodologies
• Preparing technical scheduling reports and memorandums
• Supporting Earned Value Management processes to monitor schedule performance
• Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
• Demonstrating a proactive approach to professional development and ongoing learning in project controls

Desired Skills and Experience

• Around 5 or more years of experience in project scheduling or construction planning is desired although selection for interview will be based on the quality of experience
• Previous experience is desired working on heavy civil, infrastructure, transportation or transit projects such as highways, rail, bridges or tunnels
• Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 is preferred
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and multidisciplinary design information
• Practical understanding of constructability, sequencing, staging and construction methodologies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills suited to a client-facing consultancy environment
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously with minimal supervision
• Experience with MS Project and/or TILOS is advantageous
• Experience working within Canada is preferred, although high-quality international experience will also be considered
• Canadian Citizenship, Canadian Permanent Residency or an existing right to work in Canada is preferred

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is highly desirable.
Professional Engineer (P.Eng) status achieved or in progress is advantageous but not essential.
