MEP Quantity Surveyor
MEP Senior Quantity Surveyor job role with a top-tier UK-based civil engineering and rail contractor on their JV High Speed 2 (HS2) construction project in London.
The location of this work will be in North Acton and West Ruislip.
Suitable candidates will have experience managing MEP, Buildings or Design packages. Looking for a Quantity Surveyor to start as soon as possible.
Project Details
The MEP Quantity Surveyor will report to the MEP Area Commercial Manager for Central Area, who in turn reports to the Senior Commercial MEP Manager.
This role is responsible for providing accurate and value-generating input to projects, ensuring that all commercial aspects are managed in accordance with the contract, company policies, and procedures.
The Quantity Surveyor may work independently or under the direction of a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
The location is split between North Acton and West Ruislip portal. 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Main Contract management and administration
- Supply chain management (including supply chain contract administration)
- Commercial document control
- Cost capture and control
- Commercial Reporting
- Planning & programme management
- Change Control
- Measurement
- Project metrics reporting
- Assisting with cash management.
- Liaison and negotiation with the Customer’s commercial and/or project team.
- Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting the Commercial Manager in ensuring the necessary internal and external periodic valuations and reports are prepared and issued in line with deadlines
- Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 3 years working experience as a Quantity Surveyor
- Experience managing MEP, Buildings or Design packages
- Proven financial and commercial acumen
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Practical, logical, and methodical work approach
- Creative and innovative problem-solving abilities
- Experience in setting up and managing office systems, including filing and document control
- Proficient in technical minute-taking during contractual meetings, with the ability to collate information and prepare reports
- Skilled in drafting contractual correspondence for the Project Manager and preparing payment certificates and interim financial reports
- Experience in contributing to procurement and contract strategies
- Strong negotiation and team-working skills, with the ability to motivate and lead
- Excellent analytical skills
- Solid understanding of legal, contractual, and construction principles
- Confident with the ability to assert influence effectively
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- RICS accredited degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification

The value of the project is around £ 2 billion with the works due for completion in around 2025.
