A job as a Delay Analyst at any level is one of the most challenging but also rewarding paths you can take in construction. You can work for a variety of company types including Expert Witness consultancies, Claims Consultancies, or even directly for a contracting or consulting / client organisation as a live project claims support consultant.

As a Delay Analyst, your work will be scrutinised by Experts at the highest level whether it be by your peers, or by Barristers in a Court of Law. Due to this, expectations are high and it can be a high pressure job, which suits those who are perfectionists and who want to be seen as an expert in their construction discipline.

Your career as a Delay Analyst is usually begins once you have a few years of construction experience in one of a few possible disciplines. The usual discipline is predominantly construction planning, however people often come from a construction management or engineering background as the delay skills can be taught within some of the more established organisations.

The rewards in this exciting career are financial as well as offering mentally challenge and reward. You can often earn a far higher salary as a successful Delay Analyst, especially at the senior levels, than you otherwise might as a Senior Planner / Planning Manager within a Contracting or general Consulting organisation.
