A well-established, London-based claims and disputes consultancy is seeking an entry-level Quantum Consultant to join its growing specialist team. This role is ideally suited to Quantity Surveyors currently working for main contractors or client-side organisations who are looking to transition into a specialist quantum analysis role and build a long-term career in construction claims and disputes.

The position offers exposure to complex, high-value projects and the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in quantum analysis, working alongside experienced claims consultants, expert witnesses, and legal professionals.

Responsibilities and Duties

This Quantum Consultant vacancy is with a specialist claims and disputes consultancy that provides expert commercial and contractual support to clients experiencing complex project challenges where in-house expertise is limited.

Services and responsibilities include:

  • Forensic analysis of project accounts to identify, evaluate, and substantiate areas of commercial dispute.

  • Preparation and agreement of final accounts to a standard suitable for formal dispute resolution, including adjudication.

  • Quantification of damages arising from delays, variations, disruption, and breaches of contract.

  • Drafting detailed and well-reasoned written reports for use in dispute resolution proceedings such as mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation, acting either as an advocate or independent expert.

  • Representation of parties or supporting the defence in formal dispute resolution processes, including adjudication and mediation.

  • Providing commercial support on live projects, including oversight of client commercial teams and delivery of strategic commercial advice.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, gained within a client-side or main contractor environment.

  • Demonstrable experience providing effective commercial support on construction projects.

  • Strong knowledge of standard forms of construction contract, particularly JCT and NEC.

  • Experience in procurement strategy development and contract administration.

  • A working understanding of construction law, particularly in relation to the assessment and quantification of damages.

  • Excellent teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and manage responsibilities autonomously.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, structured reports and presentations.

  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing project requirements and working environments.

  • Ability to manage multiple commissions simultaneously, coordinating inputs from wider project teams where required.

  • Sound technical understanding of construction methods and industry best practice.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in a relevant construction-related discipline.

  • Studying towards a higher qualification in construction law or a related subject would be advantageous but is not essential.

  • Membership of a relevant professional body is beneficial but not mandatory.
