Quantum Consultant
A London based claims and disputes consultancy searching for an entry level Quantum Consultant to join their growing team.
This Quantum Consultant role would particularly suit Quantity Surveyors currently working for traditional contractor or client organisations who want to specialise in a quantum analysis role and pursue a long-term career in construction claims and disputes.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Quantum Consultant job vacancy is with a specialist claims and disputes company that offers a range of specialist consultancy services to its clients who are experiencing problems in their projects and do not have the in-house expertise to resolve them favourably.
Services provided can include:
- Forensic analysis of project accounts to identify and substantiate areas of dispute
- Preparation of final accounts to a standard suitable for adjudication
- Quantification of damages arising from delays or breaches of contract
- Drafting of detailed written reports for use in dispute resolution processes such as mediation, adjudication, and litigation — acting either as an advocate or independent expert
- Representation of parties or defence involvement in formal dispute resolution proceedings, including adjudication and mediation
- Commercial support on live projects, including oversight of client teams and provision of strategic commercial advice
Desired Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor, gained within either a client-side or main contractor environment
- Proven track record of delivering commercial support.
- In-depth knowledge of standard forms of contract, particularly JCT and NEC
- Proficient in developing and managing procurement strategies and contract administration
- An understanding of construction law, with a particular focus on the assessment and quantification of damages
- Excellent team collaboration skills, coupled with the ability to work independently when required
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver clear, concise presentations
- Adaptable and responsive to evolving project requirements and working environments
- Capable of managing multiple commissions concurrently, including overseeing and coordinating inputs from wider project teams
- Sound technical knowledge of construction methods and practices
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree qualified
- Studying towards a higher qualification in construction law or similar equivalent could be advantageous but is not essential.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body is also advantageous but not necessary.
