Senior Quantity Surveyor
Senior Quantity Surveyor is required to join an expanding Ottawa team of this reputable consultancy.

Project Details
The work includes architectural and structural quantity take-off, price research, and the preparation, analysis and presentation of cost estimates and related studies.
It is required that candidates have an excellent understanding of the Canadian construction market and various practices used within it.
Preferred applicants will be a member of the CIQS, RICS an equivalent organization and possess their PQS, MRICS, or comparable designation.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the delivery of a full range of Quantity Surveying and Cost Consulting Services to new and existing clients.
- Support the preparation of cost estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to the pre-tender stage.
- Aid the analysis of costs between estimate stages and those of comparable projects.
- Quantify materials to prepare cost estimates in accordance with the CIQS Rules of Measurement and best practice.
- Co-ordinating with and/or supervising the activities of other staff
- Lead research activities on prices, market trends, alternates method of construction.
- Support Quality Control and Assurance protocols
- Liaising with clients
Desired Skills and Experience
- An understanding of the Canadian construction market and various practices used within it.
- Senior level understanding of construction estimating, budgeting, and planning.
- Knowledge of CIQS standard method of measurement (elemental/trade)
- A working knowledge of the construction industry, including development, contracting, and consulting sectors.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Capable of working efficiently on multiple tasks and demands and meet tight deadlines.
- A high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics.
- Professional demeanour
- Self-motivated and able to be an integrated member of a team.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent to any of the following, Quantity Surveying, Construction, and Structural and Civil Engineering
- A member of the CIQS or an equivalent student organization and possess a desire to attain their PQS, CEC, or related designation.
