Project Details
Senior Quantity Surveyor will be exposed to a full project lifecycle with involvement across pre-construction through to project delivery. The employer operates across a range of sectors- commercial, community, education, health, heritage, residential, leisure and performing arts.
Contract values typically range from £1,000,000 - £20,000,000 and will take place in Central, Greater London and the North and Eastern Home Counties.
In this role Senior Quantity Surveyor must be willing to train junior staff.
This is an office-based role in Barking. Generally, most of the contracts are within M25 area and the ideal Senior Quantity Surveyor candidate will be no further than a 45-minute drive from the office.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Senior Quantity Surveyor duties and responsibilities will include:
- Managing the commercial aspects of subcontract accounts from procurement to interim and final account agreement and client final account negotiation to ensure the best possible outcome
- Attending monthly CVR meetings for presentation of current financial situation on project as well as producing accurate cashflow
- Commercial administration and management on several live projects or projects at pre-construction phase
- Management and control of subcontract orders, accounts and variation accounts in line with the main contract and sub-contract database
- Post-tender internal and external pricing analysis/assessment for sign-off whilst ensuring within budget
- Manage subcontractor and professional services selection for schemes, ensure the chosen contractor has the appropriate order and information to carry out their work, and helping to prepare procurement schedules liaising with legal counsel as required regarding contractual information
- Develop an understanding of all designated contracts, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout the contracts
- Reviewing of contact conditions prior to contract commencement
Desired Skills and Experience
- A strong history of work experience as a Quantity Surveyor/ Senior Quantity Surveyor
- Previous experience of managing a team
- Strong commercial acumen
- Being able to remeasure accounts on all trades
- Being able to produce a bill of quantities from drawings (regardless of the method of measurement)
- Excellent negotiation skills with the supply chain and / or external clients to ensure the business maximises profit throughout
- Good organisation skills to be able to organise and prioritise your workload.
- Excellent level of numeracy and verbal communication skills
- IT skills in MS Excel and Word
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- HNC/HND or a degree in Quantity Surveyor or similar construction disciple in preferred
