Senior Quantity Surveyor

Senior Quantity Surveyor job based in Montreal, Canada.  Fluent French and English required. To work on large buidings projects under innovative Partnering, Target Cost & Design & Build contracts.

Project Details

Senior QS / Cost Manager / Commercial Manager professional to work on industrial buildings and battery farm construction projects. Contract value worth CAD $billions. Partnering and progressive contracts involving D&B (design & build).

Responsibilities and Duties

• Dealing with subcontractors
• Responsibility to administer the contract.
• Able to use both target cost and D&B design and build contracts
• Contractually strong - able to manage a bespoke contract and to be able to spot and act upon what is and isn't in the contract and be able to take advantage of and act upon the implications
• Able to handle complex projects and issues
• Able to successfully interface with Project Manager, Project Controls & Engineering team and with the client and their team

Desired Skills and Experience

• Experience in target cost and D&B design and build contracts & of administering both target cost and D&B design and build contracts.  As a guide c8-20 years experience of good quality QS / Senior QS / Project QS experience is likely to be suitable.
• Experience of major building and industrial, ideally battery farm projects
• Strong premium contractor experience preferred including experience of dealing with subcontractors
• Strong people skills/client facing skills and ability to manage staff & internal communications
• Collaborative attitude and able to prevent problems developing and growing rather than just reacting to them - collaborative mindset rather than claims orientated.
• Experienced in the handling of complex projects and issues

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• CIQS / MRICS or equivalent Chartership desired
• BSc in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management or Commercial Management or Project Controls or equivalent is desirable.
