Senior Consultant - Delay Analyst
This role is ideally suited to experienced delay analysts with a strong background in construction disputes and forensic delay analysis. The consultancy will also consider highly capable candidates currently working in senior planning, project controls, or commercial roles within contractors, consultancies, or client organisations, where they have taken responsibility for delay analysis on complex projects and are proficient in planning software such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and Microsoft Project.
This Senior Consultant Delay Analyst position is ideal for professionals seeking to take a leading technical role within a specialist claims and disputes environment, with clear progression towards expert witness support and leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will work on a wide range of complex and high-value commissions, operating as a key member of the delay analysis and expert witness team, with responsibility for managing analyses, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the overall technical excellence of the consultancy.
Responsibilities and Duties

Leading the forensic investigation and analysis of project delays on complex construction and engineering projects.

Preparation and oversight of prospective and retrospective delay analyses, including the critical review of technical information, project records, and delay evidence.

Development, management, and quality assurance of delay programmes and analytical models, ensuring accuracy, robustness, and defensibility.

Preparing baseline and impact programmes for new projects and overseeing the monitoring, updating, and resequencing of live project programmes.

Drafting and reviewing detailed delay analysis reports for use in commercial negotiations and formal dispute resolution proceedings, including mediation, adjudication, arbitration, and litigation.

Preparation or defence of extension of time (EOT) claims on behalf of employers, main contractors, and sub-contractors.

Supporting expert witnesses with technical analysis, report preparation, and hearing preparation.

Providing guidance, mentoring, and technical review support to junior delay analysts and planners.

Contributing to business development activities, including proposal support and client relationship management.
Desired Skills and Experience

Typically 6+ years’ experience as a construction planner, delay analyst, engineer, or project controls professional.

Demonstrable experience leading delay analyses on complex construction or engineering projects.

Advanced proficiency in planning software including Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and Microsoft Project.

Strong working knowledge of standard forms of construction contract and their application to delay and EOT matters.

A well-developed understanding of construction contract law, particularly as it relates to planning, delay, and disruption.

Proven ability to manage workloads independently while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex delay issues clearly and persuasively.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

Degree-level education in a construction-related discipline.

An MSc in Construction Law and Disputes would be a strong advantage but is not essential.
