Quantum Consultant Manager

Quantum Consultant Manager job vacancy within the Quantum Expert division of a prestigious, Central London based Construction Consultancy.

As Quantum Consultant Manager, you will work within the specialist construction Quantum disputes team, working mostly on high value international arbitration work.

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor and will have later transitioned into a specialist dispute related role where they have undertaken work within construction disputes and Expert Witness services for at least a few years or more.

Responsibilities and Duties

The exact job duties of the Quantum Consultant Manager will vary based on the size of each individual dispute you are working on. However, this is a middle management position in which you will give high-quality support and assistance to the lead expert, and get regular exposure to learning opportunities in a lead assistant role.

You will need to have the ability to support more junior members of the team when required. Exact Quantum Consultant Manager Duties will include:

• Providing and assisting in preparation for testifying experts and legal counsel with presentations and cross-examination reports.
• Working with and supporting the Quantum Expert Witness to provide highly analytical expert opinions with expert reports and joint statements for formal dispute resolution proceedings.
• Writing / Drafting and assisting with drafting detailed and accurate reports including the cost and claims provided on major disputes.
• Providing assistance to the quantum expert in an International Court of Arbitration (ICC), including analysing implemented changed design and increased costs.
• Execute a meticulous reviews of contemporaneous data to analyse the dispute in infrastructure projects in ICC.
• Under guidance from the Quantum Expert Witness, you will conduct Quantum analysis in an ICC Arbitration representing the claimant in regard to major infrastructure projects.
• Liaise with numerous parties both internally and externally to generate required information and documentation.
• Providing support to junior members of staff.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Must have demonstrable experience of writing / drafting sections of quantum reports ideally relating to arbitration work.
• Must have a successful background in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally for major reputable employers and on large-scale projects.
• Able to approach tasks methodically and analytically.
• Incredibly meticulous and thorough in the work that you do.
• Have a personable and professional manner.
• Demonstrate Genuine passion to progress within the expert witness sector.
• Be prepared to perform advanced data research and present results of the analysis.
• Be prepared to present reports and to be cross-examined internally on your opinion.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• Must have a relevant RICS Chartership.
• 2 – 5 years’ experience working for a premium contractor or PQS undertaking a Quantity Surveying or Senior Quantity Surveying role, either from build or civil background.
• Able to demonstrate experience and knowledge of construction disputes having worked with a specialist disputes consultancy, undertaking arbitration, adjudication or high level claims preparation or rebuttal work
• Must be Degree qualified in a relevant subject (or similar equivalent).
• Ideally have / be working towards an MSc or LLM in construction Law.
