Project Scheduler / Project Planner job vacancy based in Vancouver, to work on the delivery of infrastructure projects ranging from $50M to $4B Canadian Dollars across the province of British Columbia.

You will work with a multidisciplinary consultancy team on a range of transit and infrastructure projects, ensuring schedules are developed, maintained, tracked, and analysed effectively through all phases of the project lifecycle.

Candidates are required to be a Canadian citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident to be eligible to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities and Duties

This construction/infrastructure Scheduling job role will ensure project schedules are developed, maintained, tracked, and analysed effectively through all phases of the project lifecycle.

Full Scheduler / Planner job duties are as follows:

  • To work on multiple heavy civil and infrastructure projects; including transit and transportation projects
  • Develop, track and maintain executive and detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
  • Provide regular schedule updates and reports, including Lookaheads suited to specific audiences
  • Review contractors’ schedules and provides commentary/recommendations to the client
  • Assess and propose options for accelerating/recovering schedule
  • Integrate schedules provided by contractors, third parties and key stakeholders to create a master project schedule to identify potential interfacing conflicts
  • Perform what-if scenarios and delay analyses
  • Provide and implement a sound understanding of scheduling best practices
  • Write technical memorandums and/or reports as required
  • Use of Earned Value as a method for tracking project performance

Desired Skills and Experience

Candidates are required to be Canadian citizens or a Canadian Permanent Resident in order to be considered for this construction Scheduler position in Vancouver, BC. Additional essential or preferred Scheduling / Planning / infrastructure / construction industry experience includes:

  • A minimum of around 5 years of project and/or construction scheduling experience is needed, ideally combined with some field / site experience
  • Core experience in heavy civil and infrastructure construction is highly advantageous
  • Experience in transportation and transit projects is an asset
  • Proficient in using Primavera P6
  • Proficient at interpreting drawings, specifications and reports of multiple disciplines including but not limited to Geotechnical, Environmental, Archaeological, etc.
  • Possession of a strong constructability background; understands construction sequencing, staging, methods, equipment and industry standard productivities applied to infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Comfortable communicating virtually or in-person with the client and other stakeholders in a consultant environment
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment including internal staff and external consultant
  • Ability to handle different projects while prioritizing critical submissions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in MS Project and/or TILOS is an asset

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar is highly desirable
  • P.Eng achieved or in progress is desired
