Project Manager vacancy to work for a successful and innovative archaeology and built heritage practice with the office based in Northampton.

You will be planning, managing and completing archaeological projects and take action to ensure that chargeability and profitability targets are achieved and that appropriate academic, technical and quality standards are met.

Application also welcome for Assistant and Senior level Project Managers with additional years of experience.

 

Project Details

A Project Manager is needed to be engaged line management to a small team of Senior Archaeologists, including conducting appraisals, regular catch ups, advice on career development and training needs.

Main responsibilities of this role will include working closely with Senior Project Managers in the tender, design and delivery of archaeological projects in accordance with agreed business development target and compliance with all local, regional, national and professional standards.

The post is based at Northampton with regular travel to project sites required. Flexible work from home available.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To support Senior Project Managers in motivating and managing multi-disciplinary
    project teams and creating a positive and inclusive work environment.

  • To provide engaged line management to a small team of Senior Archaeologists, including
    conducting appraisals, regular catch ups, advice on career development and training needs

  • To plan, manage and complete archaeological projects and take action to ensure that
    chargeability and profitability targets are achieved and that appropriate academic, technical and quality standards are met

  • To work with other members of the Developer Services Project Management Team,
    provide cover and support as required, and contribute to the sharing of best practice and lessons learned at project completion

  • Ensure projects are adequately resourced and scheduled

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience as an archaeological Project Officer or Senior Supervisor
  • Experience of effective planning and delivery of commercial archaeological projects
  • Knowledge of the commercial archaeology market and its relevance to professional project delivery
  • Experience of implementing effective, professional and dynamic excavation, analysis and reporting strategies
  • Demonstrable skills in report writing and publication
  • Sound knowledge of current professional guidance, specialist literature and legislation relating to all elements of archaeological fieldwork
  • An effective, concise, and confident written and verbal communicator
  • A driving license required.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Project Management or other Construction related field
  • Accredited Project Management qualification or relevant post-graduate qualification desirable
