Project Details
A Senior Project Manager is needed to support and manage London Project Management team members, to mentor, advise and assist Project Managers with their work activities, in compliance with clients processes and implementation of training across the team.
The purpose of this role is to lead on the tender, management, and completion of major archaeological contracts in accordance with agreed business development targets so as to meet client requirements and underpin client’s reputation as a leading commercial archaeology organisation.
The post is based at the London office but with regular travel to project sites. Flexible work from home available.
Responsibilities and Duties
The duties and responsibilities of a Senior Project Manager will include, but not be limited to:
- To tender for commercial archaeological contracts and ensure compliance with all local, regional, national and professional standards
- To mentor and develop junior Project Managers in key aspects of the role in order to ensure effective succession planning
- Manage project budgets and ensure adequate planning, preparation and execution throughout all phases.
- Support Project Managers with ensuring that projects are adequately scheduled and resourced
- To represent the company’s London region as an expert with key clients, the public, heritage organisations, local authorities and other key stakeholders
- To contribute towards the commercial success of the Development Support team, foster a culture of winning work, maintaining/allocating business leads, regular billing and forecasting across the PM team
- Manage concurrent fieldwork and post-excavation programmes, ensuring timely completion,standards compliance, quality control and client satisfaction
Desired Skills and Experience
- Substantial experience as an archaeological Project Manager
- Experience in effective planning and delivery of commercial archaeological projects
- Knowledge of the commercial archaeology market and its relevance to professional project delivery
- Experience in operating in a competitive commercial environment
- Experience in costing and bidding for archaeological or similar project work
- Experience in preparing quotations and tender documents for archaeological projects
- Experience of implementing effective, professional and dynamic excavation, analysis and reporting strategies
- An effective, concise, and confident written and verbal communicator
- A driving license required.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Project Management or other Construction related field
- Accredited Project Management qualification or relevant post-graduate qualification desirable
