Expo 2020 Tenders Likely to be Issued in Early 2015

It was confirmed this month that it will be Q1 of 2015 before we can expect the tenders to be floated for the major infrastructure work that is required to host the 2020 Expos in Dubai. This news was confirmed by the Managing Director of the Dubai World Expo Bid Committee 2020 this month whilst speaking at a global business forum.
The UAE government is said to be in the final stages of preparing tenders for the Expos work that will include an expansion to the Red Line of the Dubai Metro, several significant new and improved roads and new hotels to accommodate the Expos visitors.
The estimated investment for the planned work is said to be between US$ 6.2Bn - US$ 8.7Bn. This funding is expected to be a combination of public and private investment but the exact details of how these projects will be funded is unknown.
We've been waiting all year for more Expos related projects to be awarded in Dubai. The hype regarding recruitment for the Dubai Expos appears to have been premature this year. Doha, Qatar has been far busier than Dubai for 2014 in terms of recruitment of quantity surveyors, project managers and other construction professionals.
That being said, the hype is real. The scope of work for the Expos is huge and for the 5 years between now and the Expo starting, it may feel like Dubai is somewhere close to its previous boom days.
Looking into 2015, I expect recruitment to heat up even further and things really should be in full swing by this time next year. It's probably that 2016 - 2017 will be even busier than 2015 also with recruitment hitting its peak for the Expos somewhere in this period.
The good times are around the corner now, that's for certain. There's a gravy train rolling into town next year and Maxim Recruitment will be on hand to make sure you don't miss it so please register for job alerts and keep your CV updated with us!
