10,000 New Constructions Jobs for North Lincolnshire Project

Posted by Steve Thomas on Tuesday, August 23, 2016

A huge multipurpose project, approximately 30 miles north of Lincoln, is due to start in 2017. This ambitious project includes improvements to the M181 plus six new villages clustered around the Lincolnshire Lakes.

With both infrastructure and construction in the spotlight, there are likely to be as many as 10,000 new jobs in the offing. These will include Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Planning Managers and many associated professions.

Six Villages

Building a whole new community means commercial and domestic building works. So as well as the planned 8,000 new houses, there will be a raft of commercial buildings too.

Starting from scratch means the need for surgeries, schools, shopping centres, pubs, hotels and a business park. Leisure facilities are also included in the plans, which will also contain artificial beaches and recreational use of the lakes where appropriate. A new football stadium destined to be the new home of Scunthorpe United will be built within this complex too.

The project covers more than 5,000 acres of land - around 50 football pitches, and is one of the largest regeneration projects in the north of England. As you can tell, it will need a number of professionals in many areas to fulfil this £1.3bn objective.

Infrastructure

Part of this scheme and budget will be dedicated to improvements to the M181. This will include a new roundabout where the M180 and the M181 meet allowing easy access to the new developments at Lincolnshire Lakes.

Together with other new junctions this should help avoid the possibility of congestion, both during and after this development is completed.

Thirteen million pounds is also allocated to flood defences along the River Trent to ensure that the lakes and other nearby communities are protected.

Set Your Sights on the Prize

As we've already suggested, there will be many opportunities within the construction industry for professional roles in this exciting, multi-faceted project. To make sure that you don't miss out, upload your CV to our site here if you haven't already done so, and keep a check on our vacancy pages.
