Project Details

The Estimator's role will be to prepare thoroughly analyzed and highly competitive tender costs, ensuring quality submissions to clients. Responsibilities include working on competitive bids, negotiated contracts, and within Frameworks, while keeping company targets for new projects in mind to deliver profitable and successful bids. If time and capacity allow, the Estimator will also assist with providing budget pricing.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Regular communication with the line manager.
• Review and assess tender documentation and viability.
• Develop offers based on client requirements.
• Identify risks and clarify with Client/Engineer.
• Determine temporary works and design needs.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with subcontractors.
• Work with designers on Design & Build contracts.
• Perform quantity take-offs.
• Liaise with clients, designers, and internal teams (Commercial, Procurement, Contracts, etc.).
• Develop efficient construction methods and resource plans.
• Assess and manage risks for tender review.
• Calculate tender costs from first principles.
• Ensure timely completion and submission of tenders.
• Hand over successful tenders to Contracts Department.

Desired Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience of estimating within a civil engineering company
• Minimum of 3 years site experience is desirable
• Managing pre-contract programme & progress
• Financial Management
• Pre-contract Management
• IT Microsoft Office skills -Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Business Collaborator (desirable)
• Full driving licence
• CSCS Card

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

• HNC in Civil Engineering or NVQ Level 6 in Construction or equivalent (desirable)
