Commercial Manager
An international consulting firm are seeking a Commercial Manager to work as part of their team supporting the client on the iconic Hinckley Point C (HPC) project.
The Consultancy are appointed to provided to lead the Strategic Intervention Scheme on behalf of the client and require a Commercial Manager to oversee the final accounts process. This is a significant role on a complex project with over 300 live contracts.
It will require a commercially and contractually astute Quantity Surveyor who can follow and develop procedures and systems to ensure contracts are closed out in a comprehensive and orderly fashion.
Project Details
You will work on the HPC project out of the Bridgewater office in Somerset. You will work for an international consultancy who have a team of staff integrated into the client team.
The hiring company are a large international consultancy who offer construction disputes and projects advisory services to its clients. There is several years work on the HPC project, however this is a permanent role and future work with the business will relate to disputes and project advisory services.
Responsibilities and Duties
Your role and purpose as Commercial Manager will be to join a large team of staff working on behalf of the client. You will specifically be responsible for the governance of final accounting on the project. You will need to be highly organised with good managerial skills and a good understanding of NEC and FIDIC forms of contracts.
Your primary purpose will be to oversee the close out of over 300 contracts over the next few years and ensure that they are closed comprehensively and in an orderly fashion, whilst protecting the client’s interests.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Candidates will need to have had a successful career as a QS / Commercial Manager
- Previous experience of managing large scale civils and infrastructure projects as a Project QS / Commercial Manager
- Good understanding of contracts. Predominantly NEC, however FIDIC would also be advantageous
- Demonstrable skills of closing out large numbers of final accounts on complex projects
- A history of working for employers with strong procedural background, and the ability to manage staff to follow strict procedures and develop them where improvements can be made
- Strong client management skills
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- A relevant Degree in construction subject
- Membership to a professional body such as the RICS, ICES, CIOB or CIArb would be advantageous but my not be essential
