Project Details
The Clerk of Works will oversee a variety of residential construction schemes including new build housing developments, refurbishment works, and mixed-use projects.
Sites will be based across Oxford, Oxfordshire, and extend into Buckinghamshire.
Responsibilities and Duties
This Clerk of Works job in Oxford will involve regional travel, monitoring construction quality and ensuring compliance across several active developments.
- Undertake regular inspections on construction sites across Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire
- Monitor workmanship and materials on residential and mixed-use projects
- Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, and UK building regulations
- Identify defects, snags, and non-conforming work and ensure corrective action
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with photographic records
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and client teams
- Attend site meetings and contribute to quality assurance processes
- Support consistent delivery of high-quality construction projects
Desired Skills and Experience
The ideal Clerk of Works will have a strong background in construction and experience inspecting residential developments within the UK.
- Previous experience as a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, or Site Manager
- Good understanding of residential construction methods and standards
- Experience within Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, or the wider Thames Valley region beneficial
- Strong reporting and communication skills
- Ability to oversee multiple sites simultaneously
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- ICWCI qualification (MICWCI / LICWCI) preferred
- CIOB, RICS, CABE or similar professional membership considered
- Construction-related qualification desirable
