Clerk of Works
A Clerk of Works is needed to join a property and construction consultancy to inspect new build public sector housing developments in the Kent area. Suitable candidates will have experience undertaking visual inspections of residential builds.

Project Details
As a Clerk of Works your main job objective will be to provide Clerk of Works/ Site Inspector services, including Site inspections and reporting to Employer’s Agent Team Leader. Common building projects undertaken include new build public sector housing.
The successful Clerk of Works Candidate will be working with Employer’s agent team to ensure that the work is carried out to the required standards and specifications. You will be covering most parts of Kent and some Sussex.
Ideal candidates will have experience working on affordable housing with local authorities and providers of social housing.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Clerk of Works will be responsible for:
- Undertaking visual inspections of the Works and review the technical aspects.
- Monitoring the progress and quality of the works in compliance with contract documents.
- Ascertain generally that the terms and content of the contract are being complied with.
- Ensure inspections take place prior to closing up of any works and provide photographic evidence.
- Keeping detailed records of the works (site diary).
- Providing weekly reports on sites inspected.
- Leading on snagging/de-snagging inspections and assisting in undertaking End of Defects
- inspections/reports
Desired Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in the construction industry at Site Management level or as a Clerk of works, Site Inspector, Building inspector either working for Consultants or local Authorities/Housing associations
- Previous experience of carrying out site inspections on new build public sector housing would be ideal
- Good understanding and knowledge of Buildings regulations & NHBC
- IT skills, with a high level of competency in Microsoft Office – Word and Excel
- Having an organised and methodical approach to work
- Full, clean driving license required
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Clerk of Works ICWIC accredited / accreditation is highly desirable
- Other designations such CIOB, CABE, RICS, IFE will also be considered
