Associate Quantum Consultant job vacancy within the Quantum Expert division of a prestigious, Central London based Construction Consultancy.

As Associate Quantum Consultant, you will work within the specialist construction Quantum disputes team, working mostly on high value international arbitration work.

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for 2-3 years or more and will be wanting to move across to begin a dedicated construction disputes career with a specialist in this field. 

Project Details

The exact job duties of the Associate Quantum Consultant will vary based on the size of each individual dispute you are working on.

However, this is an entry level role for a capable Quantity Surveyor to work on construction disputes – in particular premium long term international arbitration work.

Exact Associate Quantum Consultant Duties will include:

  • Assisting colleagues with the preparations for testifying experts and legal counsel with presentations and cross-examination reports.
  • Working in a junior supporting role to assist colleagues and also the Quantum Expert Witness to provide highly analytical expert opinions with expert reports and joint statements for formal dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Assisting with the early stage drafting detailed and accurate reports including the cost and claims provided on major disputes.
  • Providing support to colleagues providing submissions to the International Court of Arbitration (ICC), including analysing implemented changed design and increased costs.
  • Assist with the meticulous review of contemporaneous data to analyse the dispute in infrastructure projects in ICC.
  • Under guidance from your manager and other colleagues, assist the Quantum Expert Witness to conduct Quantum analysis in an ICC Arbitration representing the claimant in regard to major infrastructure projects.
  • Liaise with numerous parties both internally and externally to generate required information and documentation.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Must have a successful background in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally for major reputable employers and on large-scale projects.
  • Able to approach tasks methodically and analytically.
  • Incredibly meticulous and thorough in the work that you do.
  • Have a personable and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate Genuine passion to progress within the expert witness sector.
  • Be prepared to learn and then perform advanced data research and present results of the analysis.
  • Be prepared to present reports and to be cross-examined internally on your opinion.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • RICS Chartership preferred
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience working for a premium contractor or PQS undertaking a Quantity Surveying or Senior Quantity Surveying role, either from build or civil background.
  • Must be Degree qualified in a relevant subject (or similar equivalent).
  • Ideally have / be working towards an MSc or LLM in construction Law (not essential)
