Associate Director of Quantity Surveying
Associate Director of Quantity Surveying is required to join an expanding Kuala Lumpur team of this reputable global consultancy to work on various prestigious UK based projects. Project Details
The work includes managing a busy and productive team of quantity surveyors and engineers to provide pre contract advice and cost planning for various commercial, residential, educational, industrial, healthcare and leisure facilities being planned or under construction in UK.
The team will provide architectural and structural quantity take-off, price research, and the preparation, analysis and presentation of cost estimates and related studies.
Candidates will build an excellent understanding of the UK construction market and various practices used within it.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead a team of up to 10 quantity surveyor and engineers and support the delivery of a full range of pre contract Quantity Surveying and Cost Consulting Services to new and existing clients.
- Support the preparation of cost estimates at various stages of the design process, from conceptual design to the pre-tender stage.
- Provide a cost analysis between estimate stages and those of similar projects.
- Quantify materials to prepare cost estimates in accordance with the NRM2 or SMM7 Rules of Measurement and best practice.
- Coordinate with and supervise the activities of the team
- Lead research activities on prices, market trends, alternates method of construction.
- Ensure Quality Control and Assurance with all deliverables
- Liaising with clients
Desired Skills and Experience
- 10-15 years of relevant PQS experience with reputable consultancies or clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Solid understanding of construction estimating, budgeting, and cost planning.
- Experience of value engineering
- Knowledge of NRM2 or SMM7 Standard Method of Measurement or equivalent
- A working knowledge of the construction industry, including development, contracting, and consulting sectors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Capable of working efficiently on multiple tasks and demands to meet tight deadlines.
- A high degree of integrity, honesty and ethics.

- Self-motivated and able to be an integrated member of a team.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- University Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Structural and Civil Engineering or similar
- RICS qualified or equivalent
