A new Assistant Quantity Surveyor role in Slough, to work on managing the costs of building and civil engineering projects built by a social housing property maintenance company.

Project Details

We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the team in Slough for a social housing property maintenance company.  You will be supporting the Quantity Surveyors in managing the costs related to building and civil engineering projects to maximise profitability while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities and Duties

As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the preparation of accurate cost estimates for projects during tendering
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of project budgets
  • Gathering and analysing data on material costs, labour, and equipment.
  • Helping in the preparation and management of contracts, including reviewing terms and conditions
  • Monitoring contract compliance and assisting in resolving disputes and variations
  • Assisting in the management of sub-contractor contracts and agreements
  • Measuring and valuing work completed on site to prepare interim valuations
  • Assisting in the preparation and submittal of client payment applications
  • Handling subcontractor payments and ensuring timely reconciliation
  • Supporting the procurement of materials and subcontractor services
  • Assist with obtaining quotes, and negotiating favourable terms with suppliers
  • Monitoring project costs and preparing regular cost reports
  • Help identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies
  • Contribute to the resolution of financial or contractual matters when they occur.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to legal, contractual and company standards
  • Maintain accurate records of costs, contracts and communications.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, construction management, or a related field.
  • Valid UK driving license
