Project Details

The successful Technical Coordinator will support the delivery of an interchange project on Highway 1, located east of Langley in Greater Vancouver area. This is a major highway infrastructure scheme involving complex coordination between design and construction teams on a high-profile transport project.

Responsibilities and Duties

This Technical Coordinator job will involve supporting the technical and project delivery functions on a major highways scheme, ensuring effective coordination between stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting overall project design and execution on a large-scale highway infrastructure project
  • Providing technical coordination across project teams
  • Undertaking and leading visits to site to act as a key interface between designers and contractors
  • Handling and resolving design-related queries during construction
  • Ensuring smooth communication between engineering, design and site teams
  • Supporting timely and efficient delivery of project milestones

Desired Skills and Experience

This Technical Coordinator role is suited to candidates with a solid engineering background and experience in infrastructure or civil engineering projects. Suitable applicants are likely to demonstrate:

  • Approximately five to six years’ relevant experience in construction or engineering
  • Experience working for a contractor, engineering consultancy or similar organisation
  • Strong background in highways, roads or bridge engineering projects or related major civil engineering infrastructure projects
  • Previous experience working within a large consultancy environment is desirable
  • Ability to manage technical queries and coordinate between design and site teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive and organised approach to project coordination

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is desirable
  • Progression towards Professional Engineer status (P.Eng) or EIT (Engineer in Training) is advantageous and support towards becoming Chartered will be provided.
