For those with construction careers or related, A major HK statutory organisation is looking for an energetic, forward thinking Senior Manager to join their construction institute.  

Project Details

This is a departure from our normal construction recruitment as our client is a critical government linked institution and coordinating body established in 2007 to improve the quality and competitiveness of the construction industry sectors and promote good practices. Our client acts as a communications platform / channel and is empowered to formulate codes of conduct, share knowledge, reflect the industry’s needs, improve labour relations, promote health & safety and sustainable construction and elevate the standards and skills of the industry via funding research and organising vocational training.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To develop and oversee the strategic planning for the basic skills certificate training program at the client's campus, with the goal of offering quality construction craftsmanship training and development opportunities;
  • To manage the day-to-day operations of the client' campus, including overseeing the delivery of hands-on practical training, apprenticeship programs, and other core construction skills development offerings;
  • To review and update the qualification frameworks and curriculum for the certificate training programs to ensure they meet the evolving needs and standards of the construction industry, including the ability for the adoptions of innovation and construction technology;
  • To liaise with industry stakeholders, including construction firms and professional associations, to identify training needs and develop customised basic skills certificate programs to address them, with a focus on improving graduates' employability and long term career prospects;
  • To continuously evaluate and enhance the training content, methods, and facilities at campus to maintain the quality and relevance of the certificate programmes, with a focus on equipping graduates with in-demand construction skills;
  • To plan, implement, and oversee project-based training initiatives and pilot programs that provide students with practical, on-site construction skills learning experiences that can be recognised within the Construction Pathway Project;
  • To lead the promotion and marketing of the certificate training offerings to attract new student enrollments and raise awareness of the client's role in construction workforce development, highlighting the articulation and career advancement opportunities available through the programmes;
  • To carry out any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director from time to time.

Desired Skills and Experience

  •  A minimum of 12 years’ post qualification experience, experience in construction or vocational education in a sizeable training institute will be a definite advantage;
  • A strong enthusiasm in vocational education or training to pursue excellence and positive impact;
  • Ability to formulate plans and strategies on the training programmes offered by the client's campus with a view to fulfill the mission and vision of the client
  • Strong management and administrative capabilities to supervise and coordinate the operations of the client's campus to meet the training needs of the industry;
  • Team oriented leadership and the ability to lead a team of skilled instructing staff and professionals in the delivery of training programmes;
  • Strong networking skills with government officials as well as education and construction stakeholders and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication and organization abilities;
  • Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A recognised degree / post-graduate qualification, preferably in construction, education or training.
