Client side project management jobs continue to flourish in Australia! A major global rail client is seeking to appoint a high calibre Senior Rail Testing And Commissioning Engineer with demonstrable experience of rail and E&M systems for a major rail project in Sydney, Australia 
 

Project Details

The Senior Rail Testing And Commissioning Engineer will be be based in the client’s head office in North Sydney. 

Responsibilities and Duties

The Senior Rail Testing And Commissioning Engineer shall:

  • Support the Management of Testing and Commissioning process to ensure the T&C activities for the Project Railway Systems are properly and efficiently executed.
  • Support the TSOM, FIW, LW and integrated T&C to fulfil the intents as set out in the requirements.
  • Support the overall T&C within the system integration framework of the railway line comprising this project and relevant integrated projects. 
  • Plan and manage execution of Site, System Acceptance Tests, Interface Tests and System Integration Acceptance Tests (SIATs), including test readiness and monitoring of prerequisites.
  • Support the development and defining the T&C policy, strategy and implementation methodologies to enable effective demonstration that all project and technical requirements are met, prior to hand-over.
  • Implement the overall testing and commissioning progress and quality monitoring mechanism suitable for cross organizations and cross disciplines purposes
  • Maintain framework and controls for T&C, covering factory acceptance tests, site installation tests, site acceptance tests, integrated tests and statutory inspections to ensure that individual systems and the interfaces between different systems are systematically integrated.
  • Ensure that the overall strategy is well understood and T&C programmes and plans are developed, implemented and effectively managed to meet the project objectives.
  • Define standards for the level of supervision and detailed implementation arrangements for T&C activities to ensure approved procedures and methods of work are applied correctly.
  • Prepare the Integrator’s T&C plans and SI Acceptance Test documentation and test executions on site.
  • Monitor follow up actions through to closure of all non-compliances identified during T&C.
  • Ensure that a common and integrated approach to T&C documentation - test plans, test specifications, records of testing, and certificates, is achieved.
  • Preparing reports, dashboards and providing overall T&C progress to various stakeholders.
  • Act as the secretary of various T&C working groups as required.
  • Ensure traceability of test objectives against the specified requirements and of test cases against the specified test objectives
  • Ensure that satisfactory completion of all testing works to the appropriate standards and specifications

Desired Skills and Experience

The Senior Rail Testing and Commissioning Engineer shall have:

A minimum of 7 years relevant experience working within a large-scale multi-disciplinary environment, with hands-on experience in Testing & Commissioning in a railway environment

  • Similar experience with multi-disciplinary projects requiring systems engineering and safety in design (e.g. roads) will also be considered
  • Proficient in T&C undertaken on railway projects, across multiple E&M systems and sub systems to achieve an integrated railway
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong supervisory and interpretation skills
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Rail category medical
  • Safely Access the Rail corridor
  • Work Safely in the construction industry (White Card)
  • Client mandatory training
  • Good team player

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

The Senior Rail Testing And Commissioning Engineer shall have:

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline; or
  • Certified Trade qualification(s) and experience on pathway to Engineers Australia certification or Internationally recognised Rail Qualifications
  • Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognized professional institution is desirable
