Senior Quantity Surveyor - Rail
A Senior Quantity Surveyor with shown experience in the rail sector is required to join a construction consultancy in Birmingham. You will be working on a major rail programme as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. This is a great opportunity to work on one of the largest and most exciting rail projects in the UK.

You will be a Senior Quantity Surveyor working on a major rail project.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
- Assisting in research related to construction market conditions throughout UK, including analysis of official published market data
- Assisting Associate Director in developing new business opportunities with existing and new clients
- Working with Associate Directors and Directors to construct proposals for new work or variations for existing projects
- Managing estimating and cost planning activities to include taking ownership of and presenting the final cost plan
- Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project and where appropriate involving the specialist Value Management team
- Ensuring that post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively
- Value engineering and life cycle costing - Ensuring that final accounts are negotiated and agreed
- Preparation of Cost Plan Reports including Measurement of detailed quantities and unit pricing
- Manage and mentor Junior and Intermediate Staff
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience in the rail sector is essential
- Familiar with cost management processes
- Have client facing ability and able to mentor other staff members
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Achievement of, or progression towards MRICS or equivalent qualification is desirable
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent from a UK or internationally recognized university is strongly desired
