Senior Quantity Surveyor
A Senior Quantity Surveyor is required in Toronto to work on major infrastructure and rail projects. You will be responsible for the Cost Management on major works packages on projects, reporting in the Cost Management Lead.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for major packages on infrastructure and rail projects throughout the region.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Drive the Cost Management function
- Provide guidance and recommendations in project set up by reviewing associated information and ensuring appropriate set up in the system
- Ensure internal consistency, completeness, and accuracy of project data including but not limited to accruals, revenue and cost budgets, EAC updates, invoicing and project costs across a volume of line items included in the assigned Program Management Office
- Work with multiple Project Managers and the cost team to agree/discuss project status including contract values and assist Program Team in the determination of monthly updates to cost budgets (EACs)
- Review contract terms and associated information; ensuring contracts are setup is correctly across the Program Management Office
- Ensure project costs are accurately recorded in the system and take corrective action as required across the Program Management Office (PMO)
- Oversee PMO system for all project related subcontractor payments, general expenditures, internal payroll costing allocations and all other financial transactions in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet all contract payment terms
- Ensure monthly PMO reports and analyses are completed in accordance with month end timetables and identifies variances and potential areas of concern
- Summarize projects in the PMO for status including contract values, estimates to completion for the Program Controls Director and Client leader
- Ensure standardized duties and tasks requiring the application of corporate procedures, established best practices and techniques throughout all phases of their assigned PMO within weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines
- Interface with the client and other consultants, at all project stages
- Identify and act upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates and products and hence improve the service provided to clients
- Knowledge management – Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is inputted into internal databases and shared
- Quality Control – Ensuring compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO audits
- Staff management – Inputting into the formal management of the estimating team, to include 1st round recruitment interviews, input into resource management
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experienced at leading and delivering cost management functions within large infrastructure and rail projects
- Thorough understanding and application of cost management functions within a program controls environment
- Excellent leadership skills
- A well-developed understanding of civil and rail infrastructure projects
- A thorough understanding of the characteristics of costs on projects over a project life cycle
- Experience of working within the consultancy sector
- Experience of working in the Canadian construction market highly desirable but not essential
- Well-developed analytical, oral and written communication skills
- Experienced user of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Detailed working knowledge of proprietary cost management system, concepts, tools and techniques and a working knowledge of accountancy systems
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- A recognized relevant university degree
- Membership of relevant professional organization/s preferred
