For those with construction careers or related, A major HK statutory organisation is looking for an energetic, forward thinking Senior Manager Industry Development, Construction Productivity to join their team and drive construction productivity across the industry.

Project Details

This is a departure from our normal construction recruitment as our client is a critical government institution and coordinating body established in 2007 to improve the quality and competitiveness of the construction industry sectors and promote good practices.

Our client acts as a communications platform / channel and is empowered to formulate codes of conduct, share knowledge, reflect the industry’s needs, improve labour relations, promote health & safety and sustainable construction and elevate the standards and skills of the industry via funding research and organising vocational training.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To work closely with the Assistant Director Industry Development to define and establish for industry stakeholders that align with industry development needs and client's vision and mission;
  • To lead, co-ordinate, and drive the adoption of Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), Multi-trade Integrated MEP (MiMEP), including  unlocking technical barriers; assisting in preparing training programme; establishing digital resource centre; and promoting the best practices and merits of MiC and MiMEP;
  • To drive Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) and smart project delivery in construction by identifying digital solutions in enhancing project delivery and compiling practical guide / model specifications for promoting the adoption of digitalisation in construction
  • To take a proactive approach in identifying opportunities to promulgate the utilisation of innovative solutions for enhancing construction project performance in terms of time, cost and quality
  • To manage research and consultancy projects related to construction productivity and liaise with the stakeholders and relevant parties for the implementation of research and consultancy outcomes;
  • To provide technical and secretariat support to the client's Committee on Productivity and Task Forces in undertaking assignments;
  • To prepare work plans, study briefs, research reports, papers, guidelines, standards, documents of technical nature as well as any other relevant documents for enhancing the performance of the industry;
  • To proactively contribute ideas and engage with other departments and functional teams under the Industry Development Division to show collaborative effort and deliver tasks in good quality; 
  • To supervise subordinates to achieve goals and assigned tasks; and
  • To carry out any other duties as assigned from time to time by the Executive Director.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 12 years’ working experience in construction / engineering field, with proven experience in project management, research studies and consultancy reviews;
  • Profound knowledge in trending construction technology, project planning and management, as well as solid experience in enhancing construction productivity and operational efficiency will be an advantage;
  • Proven strong network with stakeholders in the local and overseas construction industry;
  • Well versed with policies and procedures in public bodies or sizeable organizations, experience in providing secretariat support to committees or boards will be a distinct advantage;
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills; and
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • A recognized degree or above, construction / engineering or other related disciplines
  • Preferably with relevant professional qualification such as MHKIE, MICE, MIStructE, MCIOB
