Quantum Director
Work as a Quantum Expert for a small, dynamic and highly successful claims Consultancy with offices overlooking the iconic Sydney Harbour.
Due to impressive growth in the last couple of years and forecasted growth for 2022, our client is seeking to hire an established Quantum Claims professional with significant experience in drafting/writing expert reports.
This position could even suit candidates who have significant experience in a role assisting an expert witness but are not getting the opportunity to act in a leading role.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director of the business and have responsibility for expert appointments, generating revenue and strategic decision making.

As a smaller business, you will be exposed to assignments across all key services that the business offer, including commercial advisory, claims management and dispute resolution.
Responsibilities and Duties
Your role will see you work either independently or as part of a team dependant on the size and complexity of assignments and specific duties will include:
- Managing claims and disputes strategies to meet client objectives;
- Undertaking the role of expert witness and providing expert determinations;
- Involvement in key strategic decisions for the business;
- Taking a pro-active approach in achieving the companies growth plans and generating new business and relationships;
- Taking responsibility for managing and developing junior members of staff by reviewing their work, providing feedback and advice;
- Managing and preparing construction claims including variations, extensions of time, disruption claims, acceleration claims and the like.
- Writing contractual correspondence and providing contract administration and commercial management advice;
- Managing dispute resolution processes including mediation, expert determination and preparing adjudication applications and responses under security of payment legislation; and
- working with client project teams and legal professionals;
Desired Skills and Experience
- Prior experience of working as an expert witness or significant experience of assisting an expert witness is essential.
- Must have experience of writing or drafting high level quantum expert reports for expert determinations, adjudications, arbitrations and/or litigations.
- Experience of writing adjudication applications and responses
- Excellent knowledge of construction law and dispute resolution techniques
- The ability to provide bespoke dispute resolution advice to clients on a variety of different projects and issues.
- Proactive approach to business development and generating work to achieve growth plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience of the Australian and New Zealand market would be beneficial, however the client is willing to consider international candidates with significant, relevant experience in other areas of the World.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- A construction related degree is essential.
- Achieved or working towards a Masters in construction law or similar subject would be desirable
- Professional membership of a reputable, relevant professional body such as the RICS or similar would be advantageous
