Quantity Surveyor

A Quantity Surveyor is required to work for a leading national main contractor based from their Livingston office near Edinburgh, Scotland. The successful candidate will join the contractors building division and work predominantly on new build supermarkets. This is a permanent position and you will predominantly be based in the Livingston office with some site based work.

Project Details

The successful candidate will work within the contractors building division and typically work on projects in the retail and commercial sectors, including new build supermarkets for a leading UK chain.

Responsibilities and Duties

You will report to the Commercial Manager of the Division and act as a Project Quantity Surveyor on a single project within the retail sector.

You will be responsible for carrying post contract duties on this project through to settling final accounts. Typical duties will include:

•  Management of sub-contractor accounts
•  Dealing with variations
•  Cost Reporting
•  Liaising with the client to update on progress
•  Attending project meetings
•  Checking measurements & re-measurements
•  Reporting progress to internal management

Desired Skills and Experience

•  Candidates will have worked for a national or regional contractor rather than a consultancy
•  Candidates will have strong experience of working on post contract duties as a Quantity Surveyor
•  Candidates will ideally have experience of working on new build projects
•  Candidates should have good communication skills as well as strong planning and organisation

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

•  Candidates should hold a formal Qualification in a relevant subject (i.e. Quantity Surveying). A Degree is preferred.
