Legal Construction Consultant
A leading consultancy in the legal and disputes sector of construction are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with legal sector motives who has the desire to become a solicitor or barrister in the future. The ideal candidate will be someone with relevant legal knowledge and / or qualifications who wants to specialise in the legal sector of construction.
Some experience in the disputes field of construction is essential, whether it’s assessing extensions of time, loss and expense, or general contract management. Experience of working in a Quantity Surveying role is also is also essential.
Responsibilities and Duties
The role available is to work as a Consultant providing support to a Director within the business on claims & disputes in the construction market. A large amount of your time will be working on claims in various construction sectors, as well as analysing documents at an expert level and assessing any grounds for negligence or unreasonable pricings and reporting these findings.
The majority of this work will relate to general construction claims, with contracts management and working on adjudications being a key part of the role also. During a year, you will likely be involved on multiple projects and the role will offer exposure to an exciting variety of projects.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Strong knowledge and understanding of typical duties of a Quantity Surveyor
- Experience of working in the building or civils/infrastructure sectors are both favourable
- You should be within an easy commute of Maidstone in Kent
- Willingness to learn
- Eager to work and specialise as a legal professional in construction
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Qualified to degree level or similar equivalent is desired
- Membership to a professional body is seen as beneficial
- On route or have completed further qualification in construction law, or the Bar Professional Training Course
