Health and Safety Consultant

A well established and highly regarded development company is looking to appoint a self starting, energetic and forward thinking HSE Consultant to manage on behalf of their client the safe and successful delivery of a landmark project in Hong Kong.
Project Details
You will be based in the client's project site office in the New Territories in Hong Kong.
Responsibilities and Duties
Successful candidate will oversee the safe and successful implementation of the following:
- Help Embed safety as a core value and practice into execution
- Mentor GC & client staff to achieve great project outcomes Assist in developing construction contracts to be structured, resourced, and implemented to deliver safe outcomes
- Champion the safety culture; engaging with management, contractors, and staff at all levels; and implementing initiatives that embed the safety culture throughout the business
- Implement EHS policies and reporting whilst continually assessing changes in policy and/or practices that may influence the safety context
- Ascertain material safety risks and use our systems, with your experience and influence to mitigate.
- Provide support with the ongoing improvement and implementation of the safety management system to support the company's dedication to becoming a Global Leader in Safety
- Maintain compliance with legal safety requirements as well as internal management system requirements
- Develop, Support and Execute assurance schedules
- Review near misses and incidents and work with teams to build and implement corrective actions
- Present regularly to vendors and suppliers to assist in achieving safety outcomes
- Provide input to sustainability and physical security strategies
- Plan and support the Safety in Design processes
- Prepare and present weekly and monthly EHS reports
- Support Vendor EHS prequalification and due diligence
- Lead EHS discussions in various internal and external forum
Desired Skills and Experience
- 10 years minimum relevant experience as HSE Manager
- Cantonese and English language skills are a must have.
- Candidates are to have a detailed understanding of Hong Kong codes, best practices, and respective guideline. Including ISO 45001 (OH&S) and ISO 14001 (Environment) certification
- Risk Management and Mitigation
- Examination, implementation, management, supervision, and record keeping of Method of Procedures, Risk Assessments, Job Safety & Hazard Analysis, Safe Work Method Statements including Safety Data Sheets and assessments of all Hazardous Substances and Dangerous Goods.
- EHS Induction, Daily & Weekly Toolbox Talks, Permit to Work & Access including safety walks and inspections followed by corrective actions and reporting.
- EHS Inspections & Audit
- Incident Investigation
- Management of project implementation plans
- A thorough understanding of technical interface for and applicable to large scale construction, Design, Programme and Budget Control.
- Previous experience in client or consultancy project management is preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Degree in a relevant discipline
- Professional qualification where relevant for example MIOSH, Registered Safety Officer
