An exciting opportunity to work as a Quantum Director based in Sydney, working with Quantum experts in a specialist disputes division within an international multidisciplinary consultancy. Both local and international candidates are being considered. Full visa sponsorship can be provided.

An excellent opportunity to work as a Director of Quantum headquartered in Sydney, Australia, and work alongside renowned WWL-named expert witnesses.

This role would suit Directors currently working within Quantum disputes and can demonstrate extensive quantum analysis and disputes experience. Experience testifying would be highly preferred.

Suitable candidates will want to work for a premium international consultancy operating at the top of the specialised construction disputes industry in Australia, providing independent expert opinion on delay matters and assisting clients through challenging adjudications, arbitrations and litigations.

This Director in Quantum position will provide you with the opportunity to work on high-risk, large-scale, and challenging projects in both the public and private sectors across a variety of industries: Infrastructure, rail, mining and resources, government, power and renewables, buildings , defence, health and education to name a few!

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Working with the Australian and global Quantum team, which includes renowned experts and in consultation with members of the delay team, you will determine the best approach to individual dispute resolution matters in order to help clients achieve the desired legal outcome. You will do this as a Director within the specialist disputes division of the construction disputes business.
  • Experience in writing or contributing to Quantum Expert reports 
  • Testifying experience would be highly preferred.
  • Broad experience across a range of construction/engineering projects
  • Around 10+ years of experience within the construction industry working on major or complex projects in a QS, contract administration or engineering prior to specialising in Quantum related matters.
  • Support junior members of staff.
  • Encourage business development and network with established contacts in the legal industry.

Desired Skills and Experience

In order to have the necessary experience to undertake the Director Quantum job role described above, it is expected that suitable candidates will have recent experience either as a Quantum Associate Director or Director. Testifying experience would be ideal.

  • 10+ years of experience within construction project planning/engineering and delay dispute work.
  • Experience testifying is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable skills in using relevant software tools such as: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), MS Project, Primavera P3/P6, Suretrak and similar IT tools.
  • A demonstrable understanding of contract and law within the construction industry, with a particular understanding of matters relating to planning and delay.
  • Be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving skills and be able to evidence the ability to work as a part of a team.
  • Experience overseeing and managing the work of junior level Planners or Delay Analysts.
  • The ability to manage multiple commissions.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills including experience drafting delay-related reports or briefing documents for management or stakeholders relating to construction delay claims, or ideally for litigation/arbitration (and show demonstrable ability to write and conduct business in English)
  • An analytical mind with motivation to solve problems,

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Degree-level education in a construction-related field.
  • Relevant MSc in Construction Law and Disputes would be a strong advantage.
  • Ideally Chartered
