Contracts Manager
A Birmingham based construction company are looking for a Contracts Manager to oversee the Site Managers on several of their larger projects in the region of £5m - £15m in individual value.
Project Details
The company specialises in the refurbishment of listed buildings throughout the UK. Projects typically range from £2m to £15m in value. As Contracts Manager, you will be expected to oversee only the larger projects. These will be typically £5m in value or higher. The successful candidate will be expected to manage between 2 - 4 projects at any one time.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage up to 4 Site Managers
- Communicate with Clients, Architects and Subcontractors
- Preparing, analysing and monitoring detailed construction programmes to ensure projects are delivered within the agreed timeframe
- Formulate Subcontractor buying notes
- Monitor Subcontractor performance and issue formal notifications of non-performance/ non-compliance in order to meet programme deadlines and budgetary controls
- Support, assist and monitor Site Manager
- Prepare monthly project performance reports, highlighting: client complaints, variations, critical path changes, RFI management issues, subcontractor non-performance issues, snagging management progress, site resources / requirements, site training requirements, project issues and resolutions

- Capable of managing multiple sites
- Excellent client facing skills
- Often very high end clients and the successful candidate will need to be able to communicate at a high level
- Ability to demonstrate management of previous detailed programmes
- Extremely high level of professionalism
- Strong management skills
- Highly IT literate
- Strong written English skills
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
- Candidates who are Degree qualified will are desired, however for Contracts Managers demonstrating the necessary skills and professionalism a degree is not essential
- Professional memberships such as MCIOB would be a strong advantage
